BabyMed was conceived by a real doctor, well-known pregnancy and fertility expert and ObGyn Amos Grunebaum, MD. Dr.Amos, as he is known by his patients, is a professor at a New York Ivy League Medical School and the director of obstetrics at the largest hospital in New York. He still maintains an active ObGyn practice.
Professor Grunebaum realized early on that his patients, though very well educated, lacked one important piece of information: How to get pregnant. While most High School and College students learn a lot about how to NOT get pregnant, they rarely if ever learn enough about HOW to improve their chances getting pregnant. So in 1996 Professor Grunebaum came up with the idea of creating an online site to educate women and men about pregnancy and trying to get pregnant. His first website called babydata.com was eventually acquired by WebMD. Soon thereafter his German website 9Monate.de was acquired by a German health and media company.
With Web 2.0 Professor Grunebaum envisions using his extensive knowledge of fertility and pregnancy to create extensive tools, information, data, and a community enabling women and men to get pregnant faster and have a healthy pregnancy and baby.
