Proactive Induction of Labor improves Neonatal Outcomes

In this Danish study the authors show that inducing labor before the pregnancy has become postdate, inducing labor no more than 10 days after the due date, reduces neonatal asphyxia, stillbirths, neonatal mortality, and macrosomia. So much for homebirths where labor cannot be effectively induced and many women are allowed by their midwives to go postdates and cannot be adequately monitored, with known horrendous increased neonatal mortality rates in homebirths. Poor Birth Outcomes Associated with Subfertility And ART

Researchers found that pregnancies of subfertile women who became pregnant with assisted reproductive technology (ART) such as IVF or other interventions had worse pregnancy outcomes than other women.  The risks of preterm birth and low birth weight were higher for singletons born to mothers who used ART than for those who had fertility problems but did not use ART. Society For Maternal-Fetal Medicine Discusses Prenatal Aneuploidy Screening (Chromosomal Anomalies) using blood testing Cell Fee DNA

The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine published guidelines to aid clinicians in their daily practice of counseling patients about cell free DNA (cfDNA) testing. They mention a test failure in up to 8.1% of tests, a detection rate of 81.6%, and a false positive rate of 4.5%. They recommend against it's use as part of routine prenatal care.   

Supreme Court Win For Pregnant Workers

The Supreme Court on 3/25 ruled in favor of a worker who had sued her company for pregnancy discrimination.
