Jenna Bush Hager baby photoGeorge W. Bush and wife Laura happily announced the birth of their first grandchild on Facebook on Sunday, April 14th. The baby was born in New York City on April 13th at 8:43 PM. Jenna (formerly Bush) and Henry Hager named their baby girl after her paternal and maternal grandmothers, respectively – Margaret Laura Hager. They plan on calling her Mila, for short.

Jenna and husband Henry met during her father’s 2004 presidential campaign. In November of 2005, the couple was first seen together in public at a White House dinner. The couple dated until August 15, 2007, when Henry proposed to Jenna in Acadia National Park. They were on married May 10, 2008 with a formal reception held on June 21, 2008 at the White House.

The couple’s first pregnancy was announced on the Today Show on December 12, 2012. Jenna is a correspondent for the show; she also works as a contributing editor for Southern Living Magazine and as an author.

Henry is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. He has worked as an aide for Karl Rove and Carlos Gutierrez. As of May 2008, he had plans to work for Constellation Energy in Baltimore, though the couple sold their Baltimore row house in 2010; sources claimed Hager was still working for the company. The birth of their first child in New York, has caused speculation that Hager is working for a different office of Constellation Energy in the state of New York. Both Jenna and Henry have done a fantastic job of staying out of the spotlight after the former President and new grandfather George W. Bush left office.

According to Jenna Bush’s Twitter page, she is currently working with the Novo Project – a collection of photos and stories designed to inspire.

Congratulations to Jenna, Henry and their families!
