Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar were in the second trimester of pregnancy with their 20th child, when Michelle suffered a devastating miscarriage. The couple is famous for its enormous family of 10 boys and 9 girls, chronicled in the T.V. show “19 Kids and Counting.”

Michelle Duggar is now 45 years old and this is not her first miscarriage. In actuality the first miscarriage that Michelle experienced was after the birth of her first child, Josh. It was after this that the Duggar’s began looking to the “Bible to see what God says about children…that they’re a blessing and gift and reward from Him,” reports Michelle on her blog. Consequently, the Duggar’s decided to give up control of their fertility (Michelle had previously been on the birth control pill and the pair originally intended to have two or three children), and according to Michelle said, "Father, forgive us and give us a love for children like you love children ... whatever gift that you want to give us, we will be so grateful to receive." It was then that their children, twins Jana and John David, were born. And the rest is history.

Though Michelle has suffered numerous pregnancy complications, from preeclampsia to premature birth, she and Jim Bob continue to welcome any pregnancies and challenges that come their way. The news of her 20th child was a shock to Michelle, who said: “I was not thinking that God would give us another one, and we are just so grateful.”

Unfortunately the pregnancy ended in miscarriage and the couple broke the sad to the rest of the Duggar clan after returning home from the doctor. "After the appointment, we came back home and told the children…We had just been talking about baby names last night and they were getting excited about naming a boy or a girl. It has been a real sad disappointment," said Michelle.

We offer our sympathies to the Duggar’s and wish them the best in the future.
