For pregnancy to occur, all of the following is usually necessary:
- The ejaculate should be deposited inside the vagina.
- The woman has to ovulate.
- The woman's genital tract has to be able to transport the egg and the
sperm. That means that cervix, uterus, and Fallopian tube have to be
normal.
- The man's ejaculate needs to be OK, eg. there has to enough, the sperm have to be healthy.
- The couple must have intercourse at the the right time of your cycle which is during or shortly before ovulation. Use our fertility calculator to make sure you are having intercourse at the right time in your cycle!
About 15% of couples have trouble getting pregnant, usually after trying
for 6-12 months. That's called infertility. The older the woman, the
more likely infertility is. The problem may be with the male as well.
Getting a fertility test is recommended to determine the cause.
