hi maddy i am glad u have atarted the shopping its so hard to pick out the right on ur right to check them all out before u buy ,,,,,
april ,,,,,im thinking of u hope u are doing ok xxxxxx
hi all hope u have a good wkend ,,i went to get a new bra today as the other one was getting tight ladies i have gone up to an f cup ,,,im gonna be huge by the time i have this one ,,of course dh thinks its great !!!!!!
I also am not going to feed mason any food until 6 months this time around, i started kallum at 4 and he got so constipated, i dont want to deal with that, unless he thinks he is so hungry, and when i started food my milk started to slow down.
maddy, mason will nap about 3 cat naps during the day, he wakes up at 7am then will go back to sleep till 9 or 10, i put him down at 1pm and he'll sleep till about 3pm, then he takes another catnap at 6pm and bed at 8pm, everyday is a bit differant though. but ya he goes to bed at 8pm and sleeps till 7am, its so nice, your little once also sleeps real well at night. He has been eating a ton lately, then my milk came in to support it and he stopped, grrr. I also cant wait till summer, i get sick of bundling up when we go outside for walks.

Em – Let me know how the kindermusik class goes, I will look into that if Marley likes it!
I would like to get her more interactive with other babies.
Shannon – I’m so happy to hear that Maggie’s uti is all gone. How is her reflux now?
My doctor advised me against putting the rice cereal in Rylan’s bottle, so we’re feeding the mush to her with a spoon. It’s a very messy activity and I have taken pictures =]
How does Maggie like the activity center? I’ve been thinking about getting one for Ry, but I’m not sure yet.
How are your pups doing?
I’m looking forward to it being warm out so that I can take Ry to the park or beach. My DH wants a jogging stroller to take Rylan out with, but I told him he’s not allowed to get sweaty and take off his shirt because men with babies are irresistible lol.
Maggie is a good sized girl! What percentile is she?
Tara sure – Does Mason only take one nap a day right now?
I’m starting to think my Rylan is a sleepy little girl! She’ll sleep from 9:30pm – 9:00 am and then nap for hours throughout the day too.
Mary – How much does Jace weigh now?
NO

Em – See I gained 23 lbs total but already being a bigger girl did and didn’t help too much. I’m hoping that as well with the holidays passed and a new mind set this weight can go bye bye bye!! That will be fun to go on a girl’s trip and I’d probably feel self conscious myself about bathing suits… they are never my favorite shopping trips! I know what you mean! A girl I went all through school with is on my FB page and she’s had 3 boys and you wouldn’t even have a clue she’s had babies!! Grrr! ;) Don’t feel guilty at all our LO’s take a lot of time at times so I wouldn’t think that staying at home you have any more chances to get stuff done then we would! : ) I hope Marley’s naps get longer too!! I hope the Kindermusik classes work out great and maybe she’ll come home and nap. I haven’t read any books yet just been winging it! Maggie is really SUCH a great baby… we always look at each other and say how good she is to us! Course we’ve not really hit anything big like teething much yet so we’ll see how her disposition changes then.
As far as the CIO we haven’t had to do that yet or just haven’t I guess. In the evenings, we have a pretty good routine where between 7:45-8 we give Maggie her bath so she knows it’s night time and she’ll eat and for the most part falls asleep between 8:30-9:30. Last night she was up till almost 11 but I think she may have had a late nap and was just wanting to be UP! LOL I’ve set her in her pack n play a few times while she’s still been awake when fighting sleep and she’s fallen asleep on her own.
If your on FB add me too! Shannon Tiller Wilson I am on Mary’s page as well! :o)
Mary – I can’t believe it’s already been 6 weeks! Time is flying by! I don’t recall it going this fast when pregnant! LOL Love all his pics on FB too! I’ve moved the straps twice on Maggie’s and we’ve already ordered her new car seat! It goes up to 100 lbs and I know she can’t wait for the extra room!! She’s about to outgrow her carrier length wise and if I am not singing or something to her while putting her in there she arches her back and acts like she doesn’t want in there. Love that we’re all loving our LO’s!!
Maddy – Yes they are SO not fun as I’ve had my fair share since I’m not (or wasn’t) a big water drinker! Luckily everything looked great Friday at her f/u apt and her culture results came back clear yesterday so she’s back to 100%! :o) That’s what I thought too about her drooling and fist in the mouth. We’ve gotten her several teethers and I think it’s a matter of time before she’ll start to hold on to them. OUCH about Rylan getting your nipple! I bet that hurt! I haven’t started solids yet since she was sick. I asked her Dr about adding the rice to the bottle again (did it when she was younger thinking it would help the reflux but stopped before 2 months) and she said not till she shows me she’s not getting enough with the formula which my Mom seems to think she is so I’ve been trying to make her night bottle mixed with rice but I barely add a tsp and sometimes it’s too thick for her stage 2 nipple (Dr. Brown’s) which I don’t get! I watch my DH’s cousin just dump odd various amounts in his 10 months old bottle and she consumes it (she was born 2 ½ months early). I may try her on cereal this weekend to see how she takes it.
Yay for a healthy baby boy! I bet you guys are all excited and how great that they will be close in age! Yes I love getting her and seeing her smile! I used to whisper in her ear to remember that I’m the Mommy when dropping her off at the sitters! ;) I wish I would’ve been able to keep bf as I would’ve hoped it would’ve helped with any weight loss but the rest is on me. I’m hoping now that our LO’s are getting older as Maggie sits in her activity center and plays that I can get on my gazelle and get some exercise in. I can’t wait for Spring to get out and start walking with her and our furbabies. Have you gotten any cute pics of Rylan eating her cereal all messy? Loves these times where they are learning and figuring out something new! Maggie is standing up well too and I’ve actually gotten pictures of her standing up in her side rocker and then I caught her trying to climb out (crawling wise)!! She making me have gray hairs already!! LOL Awe I bet she’s cute in her Jenny jump! We got the Baby Einstein jumper and I can’t wait for Maggie to tear it up!
AFM - Took Maggie to the Dr on Friday for her f/u apt and she is 26 1/2 inches long and weighs 16.4 lbs! She is going to be an amazon woman like her Momma! LOL She's all better now thank goodness and I hope that she stays that way. We go for our 4 month shots in Feb (even though she'll be 5 months at that time) and I'm off work that day. Hope she does as well as she did with her 2 month shots.

Em - I hate doing the CIO, but Rylan will cry if you set her down and wants to sleep while being held, so I figure that if she's going to cry anyways it may as well benefit us all in the long run. She only cried for 15 minutes last night and then chatted to herself until she fell asleep. I hope this is a trend for us!
I do worry about the supply issues. You're right, I should try to maintain night feedings for a while longer.
Are you putting Marley down for scheduled naps? I'm having a hard time trying to figure out a nap schedule for Rylan.
EM, i dont know why i have such great sleepers, i started putting mason to bed at 8 after a bath and he gets certain pj's and swaddled, if he wakes up after i put him to bed i give him his binky and dont pick him up. i used to put him to bed sleeping, then half sleeping, now i can lay him down wide awake, nap time is like you, he dosnt nap for long periods of times, cat napper only, i am just barely starting to do a nap schedule to get both boys on the same so my mom will have them napping together while she babysits. i keep mason up and try not to let him sleep at all until 1pm, its worked for only two days so far, but i am trying to keep it up. we dont have a feeding schedule, its on demand, but i'm happy with that. look me up on facebook as well. tara higley mcmillan
Em ~ Are you on facebook? Find me: Mary Laurence Massey :) I think the car seat straps are supposed to be right at or slightly below their shoulders. The straps were almost belo his shoulder blades! He's such a big boy! We started by taking out the extra cushion of padding. I haven't put him in there yet to see hat difference it made.

Maddy, Marley has fussy nursing days too. She'll not want to eat and pull away and cry. I guess that it's common for that to happen to babies. One thing I would say about not feeding at all at night, is watch to make sure your supply does drop, especially since you are pumping during the day.
I just aim to keep going until 6 months. Anything after that will be a bonus! I think we'll try rice cereal at 4 months if the doctor says it's okay.

Tara Sue, I tried the search you suggested and didn't find any groups with that name. Hmmm... Could you try giving me the name of the group again? That is great that Mason is such a great sleeper. Marley does alright at night with 4-6 hour stretches, but she is a lousy napper. I have read that some babies just are not good nappers, though, and they are rested after 30-45 minutes. Marley seems to be that baby!
Maddy, that is great that Rylan is going to sleep on her own so well. I read Dr. Ferber's book, but DH is way against it. I tried to let her CIO one night and DH didn't even make it through the 2nd stretch of it. I suggested letting her CIO again last night, but DH is adament that we not do that. I spent today reading The Baby Sleep Book by Dr. Sears. He has some good ideas that don't involved CIO, so I will try those. I don't agree with his co-sleeping ideas, but he also has ideas for babies that don't co-sleep. For the teething, get Rylan a Sophie the Giraffe. They are a bit spendy, but very worth it. Marley LOVES hers. I also got her a teething toy that is from Fisher Price. It's from their Buttons the Bear collection. The handle is really thin, so it's easy for her to hold on her own.
Mary, I can't believe Jace is getting so big. How do you know when to adjust the car seat straps to the higher setting? DH and I were just having this discussion yesterday and I have no idea. It sounds like maybe we were supposed to do that already, as Marley is 3 months old and we haven't!
AFM, just another quiet day at home. It is very cold and snowy here today, so we stayed in. Marley was a bit fussier than usual, but we had a good day over all. I got pretty much nothing accomplished other than holding Marley, changing Marley, feeding Marley, and reading The Baby Sleep Book. Oh well! :)
Marley is so hard to get down to sleep at night sometimes and other times she's no problem at all. Last night was a hard night getting her to go to bed. She kept waking up. I get so frustrated, but try not to let it get to me. I just have to tell myself that this is temporary.

Hi ladies, i have been so busy with the holidays, i've tried to change my profile pic but it wont let me ever. I wish you guys had facebook, i have so many pics on there of the boys.
EM, here is the facebook group TTC And BFPS Babymed Gals, you should just be able to search it in groups, ask to join, and then debra will accept, it'll be fun to see you there.
mason is already 16 pounds, full of smiles and giggles, he has alot to say, will not take a bottle, and he sleeps for 11 hours at night, he's a pretty great baby. Its hard to deal with the two boys, but we are finally getting life on track and scheduled better, both boys go down for a nap at 1pm and sleep for two hours, that took awhile to get mason to nap when i wanted him too.

Shannon – Ouch for Maggie’s UTI! I had my first one ever 2 months ago and I was miserable. I can only imagine how hard it was for her! The fist in the mouth and lots of drooling are signs of teething for sure! We got Ry a teething ring, but she’s not very into it. Little baby teeth are super sharp! She bit the heck out of my poor nipple the other day during a nursing, it’s finally healing. If I yelp when she bites she’ll pull away and looks so offended and then starts balling, it’s a little funny. Are you starting solids yet?
My sister is having a boy, we’re all getting very excited!
I’m glad that work is going pretty well for you, it really does make the time pass quickly. It’s also so great to get home to your LO and then have them beam at your arrival.
I love Maggie’s tutu!
As far as the weight is going, I’m about 5lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight and I’ve dropped 2 pant sizes. I’m unfortunately struggling to keep weight on while breast feeding and I’ve been working really hard to ingest a lot of calories. My stomach skin is much less crinkly, but it’s still pretty toneless.
Em – We’re trying to get Ry to fall asleep in her bassinet or crib on her own and eliminate night time feedings (I’m going to do two for a week and then just one at 5:30 am before I go to work). We’re also limiting her pacifier time and she doesn’t get it at all for sleeping. I’m reading Solve your child’s sleep problems by Richard Ferber and I really like it. I read On becoming Babywise and it is not a program that I like at all. It has been hard to let her CIO, we’ve been putting her down and she’s been crying for about 45 min – 1 hour but she does fall asleep and she’s been able to put herself back to sleep in the middle of the night fairly well. I sure am tired today though!
Congratulations on BF’ing still! I know that not every woman “LOVES!” it, I am not one of them either. I am aiming for a year and then calling it quits. We have good days where we have no fussiness and then we have awful days and I seem to have no control over it. How is your supply? I’m stressed that I’m not making enough sometimes.
How short are Marley’s naps? Ry’s naps are pretty short too, she’s kind of a dozer.
You shouldn’t feel guilty! It’s impossible to keep the house clean and give an infant all the attention they need! My DH has been staying at home with Ry a couple times a week and he’s finally picking up on that too.
Mary – They grow so quickly! I’m so happy to hear that Brody is doing so well with Jace. =]
Caroline – How are you? Is your incision all healed up?
AFM (and Rylan) – We’ve started rice cereal. She’s doing pretty well at figuring it out but it’s messy. We’re doing Happy Bellies Organic brown rice cereal with probiotics and so far she hasn’t had any issues with her tummy or rashes. I think we’ll do oatmeal in the next couple of weeks. She loves to stand up and is getting really strong, she just loves her Jenny jump up.
Miss you! I hope your babies are doing wonderfully.
Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA, it ouldn't send me a replacement password. Jace is 6 weeks old tomorrow...CRAZY! He's so precious and I love having to boys. Brody absolutley adores having a baby brother. He is just groing so fast. No more newborn diapers or clothes :( And it's time to move the straps on his car seat. I love every minute of it though! :)

Shannon, I'm 11 pounds off my pre-pregnancy weight, which is not bad, considering I gained 48 pounds! But I think I'm going to have to work that 11 pounds off as it doesn't seem to be going on its own. I didn't gain anything over the holidays, though, so I'm hoping that now that I'm eating more sensibly again, it will start to go down. My best friends from childhood and I are doing a girl's trip in April and I am feeling very self-consious about wearing a bathing suit. I didn't like wearing one before I got PG and now with the stretch marks and such...UGH! I envy those women who can wear a bikini after they have given birth. With the wrinkles of skin and flab, NO WAY. Hopefully I can find some bathing suit that doesn't make me want to crawl into a hole.
I'm sure it's hard to keep up with your house while you're working. I think I feel even guiltier about the state of my house since I am home all day. I feel like it should be perfect and I should have dinner on the table when DH gets home. That is certainly not happening!!
I don't know why Marley is such a short napper, but it seems pretty typical for babies her age to not be into napping long yet, from what I've read. I'm hoping it will stretch out in the next few months. At least she is pretty predictable with her naps and such.
I've signed Marley up to go to Kindermusik. I'm excited to take her, but a little worried since it falls during her morning nap time. I may have to switch to another class if she is sleeping or tired or grouchy during classes. I also signed her up for a free Gymboree class, but decided to do the Kindermusik instead. We'll see how it goes. I'm making good mom friends at my MOPs group too. I certainly manage to keep busy. I feel like the days are all the same, but it's still fun.
I'm on POP for BCP. I think they are giving me headaches, but I don't want to stop taking them. I'll be glad when I'm not BFing and I can take my regular pills again. But I will keep BFing as long as I can! I have to keep telling myself that!
So what are some of your favorite books you've read about babies and parenting? I love Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. That is my favorite one so far. It's great! Are you all letting your babies "cry it out" at all?

Caroline - How right you are for sure and I know it's something I just need to get passed so I can feel more sane about my home LOL My bathrooms seem to get neglected the most along with dusting but I know as they get older and play with their toys more she'll be able to be more occupied so that will help! Thank you we had fun taking them and even though she wasn't 100% over her UTI she was a good sport! She's really such a happy baby! They are growing SO fast!! I don't recall 4 months of pregnancy going as fast as having our baby's here that's for sure!!! I think I'm going to start a discussion on our FB BM page for us Mommies because I know we miss talking to one another and now that our babies are here it's so good to be able to keep in touch and share.... Especially if we're not quite back in the TTC boat yet! I bet London will be an awesome experience!! Yeah I am with on taking the bcp but know it's a good thing too!!
Maddy - 2 teeth already!!! Ahhhhhhhh!!! I swear it's going by TOO quickly!!! I think Maggie is teething too or something cause even when she's not hungry in her mouth her fist goes!! I am thinking of picking up the teething ring her sitter has from Walmart that vibrates. She said she likes that one when used at her house. Maggie's been fussy since she's had a UTI (which cause a fever - only thing we knew was wrong but caused by the UTI) and thinking she was teething my Mom ran her finger across her gums and Maggie seemed to enjoy that so maybe she's working on hers too! Um ouchie too with still BF!!! I can't believe how fast your sister's pregnancy has gone! I forgot did we know what she was having?? For some reason I am thinking boy but could be wrong...
Going back to work definitely was hard at first but I'm so used to it now and I think it makes my weeks fly by that much more quickly it seems! Yeah the household chores get the best of my OCD LOL but if I'd let my DH help versus trying to do it "my way" I'd be going behind him... just how I am! LOL
Love Rylan’s new pic!! I enjoy seeing our LO’s grow!!
Em – Maggie does the crunch movement too! LOL Especially when I’m trying to feed her and she’s all trying and wanting to sit up! Love hearing them laugh and coo!! I’m definitely leaning towards still taking her to the sitter that day myself so that I can just focus on the house because I know it will make me feel better! I wonder why she’s such a short napper? Maggie does that from time to time but then she’ll crash for 3-4 hours at a time…. It’s crazy! It’s weird too not knowing her daily schedule so much but I ask a lot of questions too and the sitter and I work really well together so that helps!
I know it’s off the subject but how’s everyone with their pre-pregnancy weight? Mine seems to fluctuate SO much more now that I’ve had a baby then when I didn’t…. course with all the holidays in between the maternity leave I haven’t really been able to work out at all and my eating habits have been so so…. I’m hoping that I can get it together and get back into my pre pregnancy clothes! I’m about the same size in jeans but it’s like the shape of my hips or something has changed (other than carrying an extra 10-15lbs when I was in them last) because I can go buy jeans in the same size that fit but my existing ones don’t…. SO weird!!
Glad everyone is back too!!

Shannon, I’m glad that you are liking your sitter. I’m sure it’s hard to have Maggie not with you, but good to know that you have someone you can trust. I’m sorry it’s been so hard going back to work and balance cleaning and keeping the house. It’s so hard to get everything sorted out. I can’t imagine how hard it is with working too. I can hardly keep everything straight and organized even with staying home. I think you should take the time to get your house cleaned on MLK day. You will feel better if you do.I’m remembering when we found out I was pregnant with Marley too. That was on January 11th, though. Such a change in a year!
Caroline, I’m glad to hear that Rachel is sleeping through the night. Marley will sleep about 4-6 hours at a stretch at night. She is still waking up to eat, though. I will let her do that for a while yet as she is still so little. She is cooing and laughing and trying to sit up. It’s great! Although she no sense about trying to sit up yet, so she falls flat on her face if you aren’t watching too closely. She likes to be propped up and then she does this crunch movement where she tries to sit up. I would like to have another one for sure, but I want to wait to start trying until Marley is about 18 months old. That’s my hope anyway. I’m sorry you are wanting one so badly and DH is not on board.
Maddy, are things still going well with your uncle keeping Rylan? I hope it’s still going well. I’m glad you are able to be so laid back about the housekeeping. I think I am too hard on myself sometimes. I’m sure your family is getting excited for your twin to have her LO in March! So fun! I’ll bet Rylan’s little teeth are so cute! I’m glad to hear you are still BFing. I know you were having some problems with that. Marley is still BFing too. She is mostly doing well, but has been fussy about it today. I just keep telling myself that I am over halfway to my goal of BFing her to 6 months. Of course, I will keep going at 6 months most likely, but I decided to set that as a goal for myself.
Staying home is good, but harder than I thought. I find that being home gives me too much time to worry about little details too much. I worry too much! I’m getting somewhat better, but when Marley has a time when she doesn’t want to eat or something, I tend to just focus on that. That’s the hardest part of staying home I think. That and feeling like I don’t have anything productive to contribute to conversations that doesn’t involve feeding or pooping. It also doesn’t help that Marley is the world’s shortest napper. She naps for about 30-45 minutes per nap still. I’m hoping that as she gets older, that will stretch out. It’s a bit frustrating and not easy to do something in that amount of time. But she is in her crib at night for about 12 hours (with two feedings in there) so I can’t complain too much.
I’m so glad you ladies are back!!!

Hi ladies!
It's good to hear from all of you!
Shannon - I know how hard it is to go back to work, it will get easier! I still look at photos or her on my phone every single day, and it helps a lot. Your christmas picture is great! You look wonderful. We took Rylan to get her pictures done (not christmas themed) and she peed everywhere lol.
I don't even stress cleaning! I do her laundry all the time, and my DH does the rest. It's great. I understand you wanting to get it done and wanting to spend all your time with Maggie.
Caroline - I am not thinking about another one at all! I got the iud put in at 8 weeks and I'm so pleased that I don't have to worry about it. I'm so glad that Rachel is doing so well with her brothers!
Em - How is being a SAHM? Sometimes I wish that I could be one too, I never thought that would be the case! How's breast feeding going?
AFM - Rylan's two bottom teeth have broken through! It's exciting but causing some nipple soreness! Ouch. She's doing so well and is just amazing. Her cousin is going to be born at the end of March and I'm excited for that.
I hope you're all great. Love!
shannon .. it is a tough decision on weather to leave her with the sitter
or not when u are not working ,, but u do need some alone time weather its to clean

Caroline - A part of me is because of not knowing how long it will take again and it's hard to remember to take my birth control pills again after 18 months! LOL Dh thinks we're done too just because of expenses but I've asked him to give us about the time when Maggie is between ages 2-4 to think about trying again so we can make sure we're not over stretching our finances unless it happens otherwise. I'm not sure how I'd do with 2 little ones as my house still hasn't recovered from Maggie and I'm still trying to manage my time as she sleeps in getting everything done.... I seem to keep cleaning the same areas and try and branch out to the rest on the weekends! Hopefully now that the holidays are past, that might help time management wise. We get off for Martin Luther King day and I would typically keep Maggie to spend time with her and also save money but I may let her go to the sitter so that I can really clean! I'm so torn when we have days off because my time during the week is so limited with her that I keep her and don't get near what I want done...... sigh! ;)
So glad Rachel is doing SO well I love her pics on FB!! She's such a cutie!! I bet her brothers love her bunches and know they will be protective over her as she gets older!
Tomorrow marks 1 yr ago since finding out we were pregnant with Maggie and I remember it like yesterday!! Cannot believe how far we all have come in our journies!

Em - thank you! Yeah Maggie just kind of sat there too and watched! LOL Next Christmas though you know it'll be fun because they will be mobile and have had previous bday experiences opening presents! ;)
I started back to work the 1st of November in hopes I could work enough to build my leave back up to get back on 1st payroll (which I did for end of December) and also my short term disability only covered me till 10/27 and they didn't pay out a whole lot ($1200 difference in regular pay) so I was trying to do what I knew was best bill wise and go back asap! The 1st day was SO very hard and I creied twice because it was just overwhelming for me to hear someone else talk about how much she was laughing or cooing and it just broke my heart! It has gotten a lot easier since and I love that we're able to keep her with a sitter and not in a daycare so early so she won't be sick as often (fingers crossed!)
How's staying at home going? I bet you are loving it especially during the holidays!

Shannon, I'm good. Our Christmas was good. Of course Marley didn't really know what was going on, but it was still fun to have her around for her 1st Christmas. How was yours? How is it going back to work? When did you end up going back?
I love the pic of you and Maggie!

Congratulations, Mary! Glad to hear that Jace arrived safely. Sorry that you are in so much pain from the C-Section. I'm sure that you just want to hold and carry Jace all the time. Hopefully you will be healed soon so that you can do that. I hope that his jaundice gets better soon. Marley was very sleepy when she was first born too. Getting her to wake up to eat was so horrible. I'm glad she isn't that way now, although it would be nice if she slept more!! LOL
So happy that your little man mad ehis arrival!
I guess no one else comes here anymore. So sad. :(

Jace is here! He made it on Nov 29th @ 7:45am. He was 8lbs 3oz & 20in. Chuckers was almost a pound larger then Brody was. We were all surprised. Recovery from the 2nd c-section is way harder then the first. I am sore! Brody seems so big now! He feels like he gained so much weight. I know I shouldn't be picking him up but I did and he was huge!! We finally made it home today and it is great. Breastfeeding is going well, most of the time. If he is tired he will not wake up to eat. I have been pumping since I got home earlier. I was so engorged! I can always use the milk though so it's no problem. He has an appt tomorrow because he is borderline jaundice.

Mary, not too much longer now! Think you'll make it to the 29th?? How is the nursery?
Maddy, I like being a SAHM, but I still haven't figured out how to get it all done and take care of Marley. Her naps are still irregular and she wakes up quickly at times, so I find myself staying close to her so I can try to get her back to sleep if she wakes up too early. This makes it so I don't get much done, though. DH has been a help, though, and has started being more proactive with cleaning and helping. I really need to get to the grocery store!! We didn't make it this weekend and I don't like to take Marley out in the evening since she will fall asleep in her car seat.
Marley has only slept more than 7 hours those three times now, but she will do it again, I'm sure. I think she has a little bit of a cold, which hasn't helped her sleeping at night. I have a cold, but it's all in my throat. I think hers is the same, so she is grunting and making noises in her sleep to clear her throat. I hope that she will be better soon and start sleeping better again. She has been napping for over an hour now, though, with only needing me to give her paci back to her a couple of times to get her back to sleep.
Yes, I will keep using the Nipple Shiled indefinitely. It works, she is eating, gainging weight, and happy, and there isn't anything wrong with continuing to use it. The LC said that there really isn't any reason I "have" to stop, so I'm not going to. Maybe once Marley is bigger she'll start yanking it off or something and then I'll have to reconsider, but I'll just keep using it until then.
Well, I think Marley is waking up now.

Mary – Good luck with the next week! Hopefully it’ll go quickly for you.
mgarcia – I wish that you would have joined in! Congratulations on your baby boy! The best of luck to you and your family.
Em – Are you happy being a SAHM? I love spending my days with Rylan but I find that I can’t get anything done! I just want to snuggle on the couch with her. That is awesome that Marley’s sleeping through the night! Rylan has twice now, it was pretty awesome but my breasts got really engorged! For the most part, we go to bed at 9-10pm and she wakes up once to nurse some time and then we wake up to nurse again at 6 am before I get up for work. I don’t mind that schedule at all! Being at work has been just fine, I miss her but it’s much easier than I thought it was going to be. I’m still nursing and pumping. We switched to the breastflow bottles and it has helped with her crying fits enormously! We’re now bonding during nursing instead. Do you think you’ll stick with the nipple shield long term?
How is everyone else??
I'm still here, and still pregnant! I have 9 days left until my c-section!!!! I sent DS to my mom's house today so I can do some cleaning & rearranging :) Nesting here I come!!!!

Hey ladies! I am still here, but I don't know if you all are!
Marley is getting bigger and bigger and is doing so well. I am still nursing her with the nipple shield, but she does so well that I don't mind. Her reflux seems to be under control now and she is starting to sleep through the night! I think she has a little cold right now, so she didn't sleep well last night, but 3 nights this week she slept over seven hours straight! It was awesome!! :)
Staying home is going well and I am working on a routine for her each day. How has it been going back to work Maddy and Shannon? How is everyone else doing? Miss you girls!!

Hi Ladies,
None of you guys know me, and I'm not sure that anyone is reading this thread anymore; but I just wanted to tell you guys Thank You! I have been silently stalking this board for the past 11 months...and unknowingly you guys have given me a lot of strength and courage and tons of advise during that time. I am just not one to post on community boards, so I never posted anything. I am a mommy to 2, just had my 2nd boy in September - we had 2 heartbreaks while trying to get pregnant with our 2nd. I was so terrified during this pregnancy that something was going to go wrong, but with alot of prayers nothing did and I have a healthy baby boy.
Again - THANK YOU - for helping me stay strong.

Em – I know how hard and frustrating it can be when they’re crying and want to eat but are resisting. I watched her drink from a bottle with her dad this morning and was green with envy for how smoothly it went for the both of them. I hope that you two can work it out without the nipple shield. I’m sure it’ll be an adjustment and hard, but persistence will pay off. Good luck at the lactation consultant today!
I know that Rylan goes longer without her diaper getting changed too. She used to go every time she nursed but now he will have 2-3 BM a day and won’t have one most nights actually! But she’ll leak pee through her diaper occasionally. I fondly call her ‘my little pee-pee girl’ when she does that lol. Are you going to start Marley back on the zantac then?
When you get Marley to bed at 8:00, do you go to bed also? What time does she generally sleep until? I’m so pleased with Rylan going to sleep after a nursing session in bed, regardless of the time. I have gotten to take naps with her this way too. I’m hoping to put her in her crib when she’s waking up less in the night though. She is a snacker and will still wake up 4 or 5 times a night, nurse for 5 minutes and then fall back asleep.
Tara sue, Shannon, Mary, April, Rikibaby, and Caroline – I hope you’re all great!
AFM – Rylan is becoming so vocal and wants to have conversations! I’m so enamored. It’s mostly cooing noises but she said “hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii” the other day. Well, that’s what I heard lol.
em, mason has a bm after everytime he eats, so about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, and he pees alot, with my first baby, we left him in his diaper for awhile and didnt go through alot of diapers, but mason has to be changed at every feeding, his pee soaks the whole diaper all the way to the back, and then will leak through his clothes, making the back wet of the clothes wet, looks like we will be spending more money on diapers this time around :(. so not looking forward to the time change this sunday, em your little one will be going to bed at 7 instead of 8 though :)

Maddy, I just haven't been able to nurse without the shield because of my flat/inverted nipples. My LC says that I can keep nursing her indefinitely with the shield, but I'd like to be able to get her off of it. I started yesterday PM and have been nursing her without it except for at midnight last night. I had to use it tonight too because she was SCREAMING her head off and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. She was even crying when I tried to nurse her, which is usually what gets her to quiet down immediately. I finally did get her to nurse using the shield, although she was wimpering while she nursed. She is asleep now. I feel bad because I think it might be related to her nursing without the shield. I hope she is still getting enough to eat. We have an appointment with the LC tomorrow, so we will see. I hope she sleeps for a while and then nurses well when she is up again. I did get my wish of her being in bed at 8:00, though. Maybe the bedtime training I have been doing with her has finally paid off.
I think that her BMs have just changed now. I was reading and at one month it is pretty common for babies to start having BMs less often. She was having them a LOT and they were very runny. Now they are more formed, but still very very soft. She did have another one this evening, so that made me feel better. I think it was just a coincidence that we started the Zantac at the same time that her pattern was changing anyway. How often are your babies having BMs?

Em – What happens when you don’t use the nipple shield?
I’m glad that Marley had her BM! I bet her tummy does feel better.
I guess that I don’t ever try to put Rylan down to sleep unless it’s night time. I just let her do her thing. She wants to be held most of the time, awake or asleep!
Tara sue – She doesn’t mind expressed breast milk in a bottle. I think she might be having some nipple preference and thinks that bottles are easier and better. At least I don’t have to cut dairy out of my life!
I really liked having my baby bjorn for chores around the house. I’m sorry there’s some jealousy going on, that must be hard. Are you planning on going back to work?
I hope you’re all great!
em mason did that also with the all day awake thing, and he ate alot that evening every hour throughout the night, i was told that its a growth spurt, they get them around 3 and 6 weeks. mason wants to be held alot now, it makes it hard with my almost 3 year old because he starts to get jelouse and tells me to put mason in his swing, i've learned that my baby snugli ( baby bjorn) works great to carry him around in the house, plus he holds his head up and wants it leaning backwards and it has a setting where he can do that and i dont have to hold the back of his head.

Maddy, if you can find a lactation consultant that you trust and like, I would suggest doing that. If this is something that is happening all the time, you want to figure out what's going on and put a stop to it. I love my lactation consultant! I am going to see her on Wednesday to get help with getting off the nipple shield. She told me today that the way to get off it is just to start being persistant with not using it. I was able to nurse Marley today without it!! I will try again at the next feeding too.
Tara, Mason is so cute! Thanks for sharing the pictures!
Marley has been awake all afternoon. Well she took 3 20 minute naps...that hardly counts. Now of course she is over tired and crying/fussy. I am playing my FAVORITE game (insert sarcasm here) of put the pacifier in the baby's mouth. I hate it! DH is on the phone for business, though, so I have to keep doing it. It's the worst. I will be happy once she starts being more consistant with her napping. Right now she either wants to nap all day or not at all. I spent the entire afternoon trying to get her to sleep. It was pretty awful.
She did finally poop though, with some help, but I feel better and so does she.

Em – A week seems like such a long time! I bet she’s uncomfortable =[
At least she liked her bath and belly massage!
Rylan doesn’t grunt very often but she sighs a whole lot when she’s sleeping. I bet Marley’s grunting is endearing.
She’s been doing the crying thing for over 5 weeks now. I did go to the lactation consultant when she was around 3 weeks and she said that my milk was coming out too fast but that doesn’t seem to be the case. She might just have negative associations with it by this point. I’m not really sure how to make it better. Last night I had a little cry while she was crying too. When she wakes up during the night to nurse, she rarely cries. My DH talked to the pediatrician about her tongue and she’s going to talk to someone about it and then call me sometime.
I don’t plan on having another one for a long time either! My DH would love to though. Ooft.
Mary – I’m happy they had a good time trick or treating!
I’m sure your nursery will get all finished soon!
Mady ~ April's little guy was tongue tied and she had problems with breast fedding I think. i would ask about that. I hope it gets better!! Em ~ When babies are strickly breatfed they can go several days without a bm (or at least that's what Brody's first doctor told me). Since most of what they eat gets absorbed there isn't much waste to come out. That's probably why the office said to wait a week. I think B's doc said to make sure he had 1 bm a week. AFM~ It's Nov & Jace will be here this month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If only I could get DH motivated to finish up the nursery! There's only a few things to be done: change 1 outlet & light switch, put in closet doors, install trim under window & above closet door. It shouldn't take long, he's just so tired of working on it. Brody had a blast trick or treating! I don't think he remembers ever going. Every house we came back from he ran to daddy & said "Daddy, Brody got candy!!" It was the cutest thing! After we got home DH asked if he had fun. He said, "Yeah Daddy, Let's do it again!!"

Tara, Mason is very cute!
Maddy, I would certainly consider going to the lactation consultant. She might have a better idea of what's going on. It sounds like you are doing a great job, though. Did this just start when you introduced bottles or was she doing this before that? I have heard that the MAM pacifiers are good and that babies can keep them in better. I may just have to pick some of those up and give them a try. The Zantac has made Marley CONSTIPATED!!! I stopped giving it to her because of that. The girl hasn't pooped since Saturday afternoon! She has the worst gas, but the poop just isn't coming. :( I'm giving her today to produce a good poop for me and then I may call the doctor. Although, her doctor said that he wouldn't consider it true constipation until it's been a week. That just seems like so long when she usually is going 3-6 times per day! I tried giving Marley a bath in the sink and massaging her belly while she was in the sink. I read online that it would most certainly get her to poop, but no luck. She loved it, though!
Last night I actually got Marley to go down at 9:15! It was a miracle! She ate at 8:40 and then slept until 1:15!! Then she slept until 4:15 after that. Unfortuantely she was wide awake after I fed her at 4:15, but DH got her to go back to sleep for a while. She was very grunty in her sleep then, though. So annoying...but I am really starting to think that is just part of her personality, not from reflux.
I'm really starting to try to get Marley to nap more regularly. Before I would just wait for her to fall asleep on her own, which mean that sometimes she was awake for 4 + hours at a time. Then she would get so overtired that it would be almost impossible for her to fall asleep. I'm not really using a "schedule" per say, but just trying to make sure she is napping. She fell asleep in her bouncer this AM while I was in the shower and I'm just letting her sleep in her bouncer right now.
My BlackBerry told me that my 6 week appointment was today, but I'm not even quite 5 weeks out. I had to call and reschedule with my doctor's office. Somehow the receptionist miscounted the weeks from Marley's birth when we scheduled the appointment. I'm glad I have one more week to figure out this birth control thing. I do think I'll go with the "mini-pill" after what I have read. It seems pretty effective, plus I plan to keep breastfeeding, which can help with birth conotrol too. I certainly wouldn't count on breastfeeding alone as my birth control, though. DH says it's going to be a LONG time before I can convince him to have another LO. LOL!!

Em – We use the MAM pacifiers and she just loves them. They’re not going to be very coordinated with any pacifier for a little while though. I read that while they’re sucking away, you give the pacifier a good tug occasionally so they learn what muscles it takes to keep it in. Rylan loves to grab her own pacifier and launch it across the room and then cry because she doesn’t have it in her mouth any more. Rylan usually sleeps from 10-11 pm to 8:30 and wakes up about 3 times to nurse. She’s a snacker and will only nurse for about 5-10 minutes at a time. How is the zantac helping Marley?
Tara sue – I completely understand needing your own time!
How was Halloween for everyone?
Ry looked so amazing in her costume but hated being put in it! We had to wait until she fell asleep in it to get her arms through. We took her my friend’s house for a party and she was a huge hit and then she got overwhelmed and it was time to go to her grandma’s. I had planned on having her stay there overnight but I couldn’t do it and I had to go get my baby a couple of hours later! I am not a party girl at all anymore lol.
I am getting to my wit’s end with breast feeding. She will just ball her little head off when I try to give her nipple! She shows all signs of being hungry and will latch on and then start to cry again and do this repeatedly. I’m really patient about it and let her cry it out but it can be very wearing on me. She will cry for 5-10 minutes and then throw herself on my nipple and then feed like she’s been starving for days. I have no idea what it is or how to make it better =[
Do you think that I should talk to a lactation consultant about it?
That’s pretty much the only time she cries though, she’s a very smiley and calm baby other than that.
I hope you’re all great!!!!! Love!!!

I tried putting Marley down without swaddling her last night and that was a no-go. She was drowsy and falling asleep but kept waking herself up. As soon as I swaddled her...bam...asleep! She wasn't really interested in nursing last night and would only nurse for a 6 minutes or so and then fall asleep. I think that she is trying to tell me to leave her alone and let her sleep! LOL
Maddy, how long does Rylan sleep at night? I'm glad she did well with her shots. I'm not looking forward to that with Marley. What kind of pacifier are you using? We use the Soothie, but Marley isn't very coordinated at keeping it in, so if I give it to her, I have to keep putting it back in her mouth for her, which is hardly worth it. I'm not sure if I should try a different brand or not.
Well, I need to get the diaper bag re-packed so we can run errands.

Em - that's so great that you bring Marley to visit her daddy during the day! I think it's a really good idea for you to have friends to see during the day too. Adult interaction is something I appreciate from work. Rylan is really good about letting us set a bedtime for her. I bring her in to bed when she's awake and nurse and she usually falls asleep right away. I used to wait for her to fall asleep on her own but it wouldn't be until 2 am! Now it's between 10-11 and it works much better for my work schedule. My DH said she took her shots like a champ. She made a confused face for the first 2 and cried out on the 3rd but was fine after she got her pacifier. The shot locations seemed to of been bothering her a bit last night. It was hard to see her little pained face. She's 10lbs 5ozs, so she's growing just great.
You should try the baby bjorn! I doubt anyone would judge you for a messy house these days. You just had a baby!
How are the rest of you ladies doing??
