Stinging in cervix question

I know this was posted before but does the sharp stinging feeling AlWAYS mean you are starting dialate? Mine has been hurting so much for awhile now. Last week I was not dialated but was about 40% effaced. When I am up walking around a lot it almost starts to burn. I have an appointment on Thursday.

Had my group b test today! I talked to my doctor about the burning and pains. I can't remember the name but he said he thinks I have those varcois vein things in the vulva area. He said it can cause an intense sharp burning feeling when you are on your feet walking around from the pressure. Not dialated...Woohoo :)Still around 40% effaced.

The group b test is done at least one month before your due date so it should be done by week 36. Mine came out negative so was safe to give birth.

I have the sharp pain about 2-3 times every other day. I mostly notice it too when I'm going to pee. I'm so happy this website is here, or I would be freaking out about so many things. Glad to know that this is normal. Thanks girls!

Amanda thats good to know. I will see if I can get it tomorrow. I know if you have not had the test and go in labor they give you the meds just incase. If I don't need them I don't want them. I want to avoid being hooked up to an IV as long as possible.

You can probably ask them to do it earlier but mine was done at 37 weeks but I didnt find out I tested positive for it until I was in labor so they set up an IV of antibiotics and it was fine. She said it wouldnt cause any problems it was just to make sure the baby wouldnt get it once he was born.

Mickey, I didnt have it the whole time it was mostly at night when he was very active and also like nessa said.....I felt it alot when I had to sit down and pee...lol. I think its just the babies head. :)

I have stinging cervix... but only when I sit down to pee... kinda strange. It's not like a bladder infection or anything... it's just a weird sensation right at the cervix.I am 35 weeks friday.

I was only 1 cm as of last week. Renee - do you have another dr appt this am? If so, please let us know how it goes.

You can make it to 35weeks girl! You're close!

Saber and Amanda - did you guys have the pain the whole time once you started dilating? Gosh, it's been so long since I've had a baby, that I just don't remember.

Thanks guys! We know forsure my cervix has changed but my new questions is how much. Hope my doctor will check again in the morning.

I know the group b is done at like 35-36wks. Do they ever do it earlier? Just curious since my doctor thinks I will go early. I don't want to go into labor with out it and then have to have the meds.

Amanda got a good point.

As for me, at around week 35, I was 1cm dilated until 39w 4 days, I was at my weekly dr appt and dr checked for dialtion and I was 3cm and was told to go to the hospital to have my labor induced. DD#2 came 3 and half hours later.

I started getting it too about 34 weeks and as the weeks went on it got worse....not unbareable but noticable. At 37 weeks I was checked and was at 2cm and at 39 weeks I went into labor. My doctor said that it was because my cevix was getting soft and the baby was just hitting it. I dont think it means you are always dilating but it definatley means your cervix is changing. :)

I have a stinging sensation...not too bad, doesn't really hurt, just stings. I get it every night, right around when my contractions hit. Also the kicks or punches to the cervix is enough to make me mad! I swear something is going on down there.

Not on bed-rest so I am up and about sometimes. During the weekends I am most active. Just errands and stuff like that. During the week I am mainly at home. I work from home so I can relax all day and slowly get what I need done around here.

Last night though at like 8:30 I was hungry for a chocolate easter bunny so I walked accrossed the street and bought a bunch in all different sizes...lol(only ate one so far though and it was small :) My son actually hid the rest from me. We had a huge argument this morning, I wanted to know where my bunnies were. Finally he caved and gave me two. Seriously don't hide a pregnant womans chocolate! But anyways at the store I had the stinging real bad.

How far dialated are you again?????

Renee.. its very possible that you might be dilating.. I have had it two days before dd#2 was born.

Hey there. I started dilating last week...I'm not sure if it is the same type of pain, but the best way I can describe it is that it feels like my pelvic bone is splitting...it hurts. I had not started to efface yet. What are you doing up walking? You need two more weeks girl :) Sit your butt down and relax.
