Orbitz Supports Gay-Friendly Travel
The term "gay-friendly travel" may seem off or even inappropriate, but that is just because heterosexual couples have no problem finding other heterosexual couples to wine and dine with while on vacation. For gay parents, finding destinations that offer relaxation, calm and support is important to the family unit and to the result of the vacation. According to Orbitz, gay friendly vacation destinations in the United States can be found in Florida, Hawai’i, California and Colorado. Locations are also found in the Northeast, South, Midwest and West, though not concentrated enough for a specific state to be named. Most hotels, condominiums and gay-friendly theme parks listed are widely recognized major chains and destinations. In Florida, for instance, Walt Disney Resort Hotels are listed as being gay-friendly. The hotels are widely known as being family friendly.

Proud Parenting
Proud Parenting is an online resource for news, entertainment and travel involving the gay community. Among the feature stories, readers can find destination information across the United States and Europe. The site also announces pride festivities that may be perfect for gay parents traveling with baby.

What the reader would immediately notice about the vacation destination suggestions is their commonality. One blogger suggests taking children to the most important places in the United States – landmarks, if you will. With so many national parks in the United States alone, every family vacation for several years could be planned out ahead of time.

FamilyEquality.org

Another fantastic source of traveling information for gay parents is FamilyEquality.org. The advocacy group sponsors Family Week in late July every year. Other special events throughout the year include Family Camp and Families in the Desert. All activities sponsored by FamilyEquality are geared toward LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) parents. Some of the events require pre-registration while others are open for the public to attend. Some FamilyEquality events require payment of fees and others are free.
