What is a 24-hour creatinine clearance test?
A 24-hour creatinine clearance test requires both urine and blood collection. The patient collects all urine for 24 hours and then reports to the lab with the urine sample to have blood drawn. The test is used to give the doctor an estimate of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR), but the test results are not 100% accurate. Test results may produce higher GFR than is actually occurring in the body.
Abnormal 24-hour creatinine clearance test results could be indicative of late-stage kidney disease, severe dehydration, kidney failure and other conditions that affect kidney function.

- Negative Pregnancy Adult: 91 to 130 mL/min
- Pregnancy Trimester One: 69 to 140 mL/min
- Pregnancy Trimester Two: 55 to 136 mL/min
- Pregnancy Trimester Three: 50 to 166 mL/min
