When studying male fertility and sperm counts, heat has always been an issue. Testicles should be kept just below body temperature to improve sperm production. The more viable the sperm produced the higher the chances of conception with a viable egg.

A recent study has found a new threat to sperm counts and male fertility and this time it has to do with cars: Heated car seats are a luxury addition to many car interiors. In the heart of the winter months, sitting into that heated seat means warmth and comfort. Unfortunately, it may also mean lower sperm counts. Sperm are produced most effectively when the scrotal temperature hovers around 99 degrees or below. When men sit for extended periods of time on heated seats, the internal temperature can reach up to 103 degrees and that means a negative effect on sperm.
