A: A threatened abortion is diagnosed when there is vaginal bleeding prior to 20 weeks of the pregnancy. Many pregnant women get different recommendations as to what to do when there is a threatened abortion. Bed rest may decrease your bleeding, but there is no scientific proof that bed rest will actually change the outcome.
