Am I Pregnant With a Negative Pregnancy Test?

Even a negative pregnancy test after a missed period could still mean you are pregnant.

You could still be pregnant, even if your pregnancy test was negative. If you are pregnant then a home pregnancy test is usually positive when you miss your period or 15+ days after ovulatioon.

• Maybe you  miscalculated when your period was due.
• Maybe you tested too soon and there is not enough hCG (hormone that indicates pregnancy) found when you tested.
• Most tests ask you to wait a period of time, usually a week, and then retest.

hCG about doubles every 48 hours in early pregnancy. A home pregnancy test that is negative on Monday might likely be positive on Wednesday. And it's positive as first morning urine but later in the day the urine is more diluted and it could test negative. It is also important to remember that despite the advances in urine home pregnancy tests, blood tests are still considered the best at detecting early pregnancy.
