Progesterone and Pregnancy Tests

Q: I am taking a progesterone supplement. Can that give me a false home pregnancy test (HPT)?

A: Taking progesterone cannot give you a false positive or negative HPT. Home pregnancy tests only check hCG levels, not progesterone. Progesterone and hCG are different hormones.
