Blood types and Rh factor by country
Typically when blood is drawn at an early prenatal visit, your blood will be tested to determine both blood type and Rh factor. If you don't know your type, ask your doctor/midwife. The most common blood types are A+ or O+.
Below is a chart showing blood types (A, B, AB, O) and Rh Rhesus status (Rh-positive and Rh-negative) by country. Over 92% of all people are Rh-positive and the rest are Rh-negative.

What does Rh negativity mean for pregnancy?
If you are Rh-negative and pregnant, then there is a possibility you may get sensitized during pregnancy or delivery, and this can affect your next pregnancy. When Rh-sensitized, your body can create antibodies that could conceivably cross the placenta and attack the fetus' red cells.
However, there are ways to prevent Rh-sensitization. If you are pregnant and Rh-negative, you can get a shot of Rh immunoglobulin at least once during your pregnancy (or even after delivery if the baby is Rh-positive).
