Implantation bleeding is one of several typical pregnancy symptoms and pregnancy signs. It usually happens around 6-12 days after ovulation and fertilization. 

Implantation bleeding is fairly common with pregnancy. If you have some light spotting before your period would normally start this is not something to worry about and may be a sign of pregnancy.

If you have had spotting and think it might be implantation bleeding you may be paying very close attention to your body. Unfortunately, a pregnancy test will rarely if ever be positive at the time of implantation bleeding. 

How can I tell the difference between implantation, implantation bleeding and cramping and my menstrual period?

Implantation bleeding and spotting happen about a week after ovulation and fertilization. Implantation is the attachement of the fertilzed egg, the blastocyst into the lining of the uterus.
