I am 29 and recently married. My husband and I are TTC. I just came off the pill after 12 years. It has been just under 3 months since my last pill induced period. After first stopping the pill I had these horrible hot flashes and night sweats. Couldn't sleep for the life of me, which was never a problem before. For my regular yearly, I went to GYN who tested my hormone levels... guess what, they say that I have Premature Ovarian Failure, which means menopause before age 40... Yep, not what I expected nor wanted to hear. Apparently I have high FSH, high LH, and too low estrogen and progesterone.
I was referred to an RE, who saw my test and said that he would test me again, but that he would put his eggs in the POF basket. I retook the tests and here's the kicker... My levels are still high (in the post menopause range), but they are 50% lower!
I don't know if I'm crazy, but I am taking it as a sign that my body is trying to get back to normal after stopping the pill. Please tell me, do YOU think I'm crazy? 50% is a huge drop and all of the media I've read indicated that your body's own hormone production is suppressed after the pill, so maybe I need more time???
I usually believe doctors, but I don't want to in this case. I stopped the pill less than 3 months ago. My mother and sister, while they have irregular periods, both had children. I think my body needs time. What do you think? Any advice? I need all of the hope I can get!
Still wishing, hoping and praying!
