Q: When is it safe to get pregnant again after a miscarriage?

A: Most doctors suggest you wait at least one month and until your first menstrual period before you should get pregnant. The length of time you should wait depends also on the circumstances of your miscarriage and how far along in pregnancy you were when it happened. The longer the prior pregnancy lasted, the longer it's suggested to wait before getting pregnant.

It sometimes takes 2-3 months for your fertility and ovulation to return after a miscarriage. If it happens right away and you get pregnant there is usually no significantly increased risk of complications.
