The growth of the fetus is now beginning to slow down. As your baby gets bigger, space tightens in the uterus and this slows down the rate of growth. All of your baby's body functions have developed and are working. Focus now is on lung development and the baby's weight gain.
Tips for this week
As the bones develop and grow stronger in the fetus, you should increase your calcium intake. It is also important to take a prenatal vitamin every day. Milk and cheese are great sources of calcium that fit perfectly into a healthy pregnancy diet. If you are a vegetarian, alternate sources of calcium can be found in fortified foods like cereals and grains.
