OD/DD Day:

You are now in your 40th week: the week of your due date! However, only 5% deliver on this day. Predicting a due date is not an exact science. Even though your doctor may have given you one specific day for the due date, there is actually a give and take of two weeks before and two weeks after the estimated due date. A pregnancy is not considered to be overdue until after the 42nd week. If your pregnancy lasts past the 40th week, you may want to discuss induction or C-section with your doctor.

Tips for this week

There are many old wives' tales about how to induce labor. Most of these methods are ineffective, however. If you come across an induction method that seems unsafe in any way, do not attempt it by any means. Some common home induction methods include having sex, riding on a bumpy road and nipple stimulation.
