At 26 weeks, there is a lot going on! Your baby now averages nine inches and two pounds. Her/his lungs are starting to develop. Surfactant, which is necessary for proper lung function, is being secreted to line the air sacs. Hearing and vision are also developing now.

Tips for this week

By this time in pregnancy, your body needs an extra 300 calories. These calories should come from nutritious food, such as whole grains, high fiber, fruits and vegetables. As tempting as it may be, it's wise to stay away from processed food and fast food.
