It's unavoidable. As the fetus grows and gains weight, so will you. At 17 weeks, you probably gained between five and ten pounds. This kind of weight gain is normal and expected.
Tips for this week
Your pregnant belly is now visible to others. With the uterus growing at an exponential rate, your body requires more calories. It is important that these calories come from a healthy pregnancy diet which includes whole grains, healthy fats and lots of water. It is also important to take prenatal vitamins daily. Prenatal vitamins are specially formulated to supplement a diet and often make up for any nutritional deficiencies you may have.
