OD/DD Day:

Anything beyond week 40 of pregnancy is like an extended vacation for the fetus. As long as amniotic fluid levels are good and the placenta is in working order, the baby is just fine.

At 41 weeks of pregnancy, you rightfully feel pretty heavy and are focused on delivering your baby. Fatigue, pain, swelling and abdominal weight keep many women in bed until labor contractions begin.

Tips for this week

Natural induction is a viable option at week 41. However, although research has shown that inducing labor at this time can be safe, most doctors like to wait to induce until the 42nd week of pregnancy. This is simply because assigning a due date isn't an exact science and there is it is possible it was off by about a week. Use this time to take last photos, get your baby's coming home outfit ready, and checking that hospital bag one last time!
