beyonce-baby.jpgNot all babies are welcomed into the world by a slew of A-list celebrity tweets, but Blue Ivy Carter is not your average girl. The two-day old little princess was born on Saturday, January 8, to parents Beyoncé Knowles and Shawn Carter (a.k.a. Jay-Z), reining King and Queen of the music industry. Blue Ivy entered the world via scheduled cesarean section at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. By Sunday, the internet was buzzing with celebrities tweeting their congratulations - Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Russell Simmons – just to name a few.

Beyoncé first announced her pregnancy during a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2011. The media frenzy began with Beyoncé’s surprise revelation and the rumor mill was active from announcement to birth. Among the rumors was the claim that Beyoncé was not even pregnant, based on a baby bump that appears to deflate and move in curious ways during an Australian interview with the star. But as the months went on, and Beyoncé continued to grow, the offensive claims were put to rest.

It was also reported over New Years that the couple would be taking over a wing of the St. Luke’s Roosevelt hospital, after sources claimed that hospital nurses were preparing for a VIP arrival. However, when the power couple was spotted eating a New Year’s Eve meal at Buttermilk Channel in Brooklyn, the rumors were put to rest. With a nine months pregnant Beyoncé, however, the world knew the wait was nearly over.

While we patiently await the first photos of the “most beautiful girl in the world” (according to Beyoncé’s sister Solange Knowles), we are happy to learn that Mom and baby are doing well according to Beyoncé’s hometown paper, the Houston Chronicle.

Congratulations to Beyoncé and Jay-Z!
