Pregnancy and Infant Loss
Pregnancy and infant loss is defined when you loose a pregnancy or a child at any time during pregnancy or infancy due to:
- miscarriage
- stillbirth
- neonatal mortality
- infant mortality
Some facts about pregnancy and infant loss:
- 1 in 2 pregnancies are lost due to early miscarriage
- 1 in 4 women will loose a baby or infant
- 1 in 160 pregnancies end in stillbirths
- 70 babies are stillborn each day
- Many stillbirths are preventable
- 1 in 10 babies are born too early (before 37 weeks)
- 3 out of 4 neonatal deaths are due to babies born too early
