What Are X-Rays?

Q: What are x-rays and can they harm a fetus?

A: X-rays are a form of radiation. This kind of radiation is invisible. X-rays are used to make "pictures" of the bones and organs. They have been associated with a very small increased risk of cancer, especially leukemia, for an unborn baby. However, the risk is very small.
