How Do So Many Celebrities Conceive After 40?
Obie Editorial Team
There are all kinds of people in Hollywood, but there is one common thread that keeps many of these stars connected – late in life pregnancies and parenthood. Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Preston, Sandra Bullock, Uma Thurman, Madonna, Jane Seymour, Nicole Kidman and Julianne Moore are just a few of the celebrity moms giving birth or adopting after 40. Men are on the same track in Hollywood with Rod Stewart, Robert Downey Jr and Michael Douglas all fathering children after the age of 40 or 50. With all of this late in life parenting happening in Hollywood, how are younger people having so much trouble conceiving at the prime of their fertile lives?
The Difference Between Hollywood and Your Rural Life
Hollywood celebrities have an upper hand when it comes to fertility treatments and late in life pregnancy. The average couple does not have access to the limitless resources a celebrity has access to. In some cases, by the time we hear about a celebrity pregnancy, the celebrity has been through months or even years of fertility treatments with little success until finally the pregnancy happens.
Normal couples often save up to pay for fertility treatments, borrow medications from other couples or purchase them from the Internet at a fraction of the cost of a valid, legal prescription. These practices are not only dangerous, but limited by just how much money the average couple can spend on the hope of getting pregnant.
So…when it comes to fertility and trying to conceive, Hollywood is not the gold standard – it is the exception. Hollywood celebrities probably conceive naturally later in life, some of the time, but you can bet that many have a little (or a lot of) help from a highly skilled fertility doctor who’s willing to pull out all the stops because money isn’t an issue.
