Neck pain is common in pregnancy

You’ve heard about the backaches you’ll get when you’re pregnant. You’ve heard about the foot pain, the headaches, indigestion, and bloating. However, there is one common pregnancy pain that doesn’t get as much attention as the other symptoms, but it’s a good idea to learn about it in advance so that you can take proper measures to prevent it if possible. Many women experience a great deal of neck pain when they become pregnant, and there might be multiple causes.

Posture is one reason for neck pain in pregnancy

One of the most common causes of neck pain in pregnancy is actually the cause of many of the more common aches and pains. Your posture will change during pregnancy because of the added baby weight, so your muscles will need to do a great deal of readjusting. Just when your ache subsides after your baby has grown slightly and your uterus has shifted, he or she will grow more and the pain will persist in a new area of your neck. As with any strenuous activity, it’s a good idea to stretch often so that your muscles don’t become stiff in one position. Regular neck stretching will help you ease the pain of an aching neck in pregnancy.

Another possible cause of neck pain during your pregnancy is your inability to get comfortable at night. We’ve all woken up with that horrible stiffness in our neck that lasts the entire day simply because our pillow might have slipped to an unusual position. Obviously, this problem is much more common in pregnancy because you’ll have more trouble finding a comfortable position to sleep in every night. You might feel comfortable on your left side one night but then feel the need to switch positions the next. This constant easier ailments to prevent. Keeping up good posture and sleeping well is easier said than switching and the inability to get comfortable in one place will leave you feeling especially stiff each morning. To prevent this pain, try purchasing a pillow/body pillow that is specifically designed to keep you in a single, comfortable position through the night.

Neck pain in pregnancy is extremely common, but it is actually one of the done, but doing each will keep your neck in a better position and it will cause less pain and stiffness. When it comes to your backaches and headaches, finding a solution will be a bit more complicated.
