Kim Kardashian and Kanye WestBaby names are chosen with hope, tradition and formality and, in some cases, with the same first letter across all members of the family. One celebrity family, the Kardashians, is known for naming all children with the same first letter, K. With the birth of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's baby, the world started a virtual list of potential baby names, all starting with the letter K. Names included on the list were Klementine and Kadence, but the couple chose to skip the letter K and name their baby girl North.

Celebrities Naming Children with the Same First Letter
Kim Kardashian is not the only celebrity from a family with a same letter naming tradition. The Duggars from 19 Kids and Counting, chose to name all 19 of their children with names starting with the letter J. The eldest Duggar Josh followed the tradition with M names for his first three children. The couple has openly admitted that having 19 children may be out of the question but they do plan on having a large family as both Josh and wife Anne are from larger families.

Sylvester Stallone, of Rocky and the Expendables fame, is another celebrity favoring the same first letter for all child names. In this case, all the celebrity’s girls were given names that started with the letter S, but he did not stop there. Each of the girls was also given the middle name Rose.

Why Name All Children with the Same First Letter?
The common thread across this baby naming trend is tradition. Many couples choose to follow the family tradition of naming children with common first letters. Some couples even choose to give all children the same first name with different middle names. Other couples who happen to have the same initials pick child names based on those initials. For instance, a couple who's names are John Michael and Joan Michelle may pick the name Joseph Mark or Jillian Marie for their children.

Now Back to Kimye
There has been no official statement as to why Kimye chose the name North, though this is not the first time the name has been suggested. North was chosen by Kanye during the pregnancy, but Kim made is quite apparent in an interview with Jay Leno that she would not allow her child to be named North. Easton, however, was a name she was considering for a boy. We may never know why Kimye chose the name North for their baby girl, but the media will have 15 minutes of laughter filled with puns and jokes about baby North West.
