One in 7 of couples are infertile because they cannot conceive a child despite regular intercourse. Male infertility is responsible for up to 1 in 2 casses of infertility, and therefore doing a sperm count should be the very first test an infertile couple should do. The causes of male infertility are due to low sperm production, abnormal sperm function or blockages that prevent the delivery of sperm, and some of the time this is due to illnesses such as infections or connditions of the scrotum such as hydrocele.
